Love Finds You in Humble, Texas
By Anita Higman
Review by Roseanna White

Trudie Abernathy has just turned thirty, and her sister Lane thought a special treat would be a makeover and a blind date. All well and good except that Trudie is not chic or elegant, and she’s had terrible luck in love. Still, things look up when she spots her date. Mason is a Superman look-alike with a heart for God and a generous spirit—by all accounts, the perfect man! And things go great on their second date . . . until Lane drops a bombshell. She claims she’s in love with Mason—so what’s a sister to do but step aside, even if it means heartbreak for herself?

Mason Wimberley has been looking for a woman who’ll understand his unique family situation, and Trudie certainly does. She’s everything he’s ever wanted, and he knows she’s interested in him, too. So why does she suddenly refuse to see him? And what’s it going to take to change her mind? He decides to wage a war, reminding her of him at every turn until she decides to give him another chance. He’s all for a humble spirit, but that shouldn’t mean giving up one’s heart’s desire, right?

Love Finds You in Humble, Texas combines whimsy and romance with the important lessons of humility and chasing one’s dreams. Anita Higman has a knack for weaving memorable turns-of-phrase that lends the narrative a touch of magic. I enjoyed the story, the sweet undertone of both plot and characters, and found a humble heroine to be a refreshing change from many of the books I’ve read. There were a few places where the dialogue felt stilted and I would have liked to see deeper thoughts from the characters, but all in all this was a lovely story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Need a few hours of sweet fun? Take a trip to Humble, Texas and watch the love burst into rainbows.
