In the sequel to the original Potluck Club novel, the girls of the prayer group at Grace Church have new troubles to deal with. Donna, Lizzie, Goldie, Lisa Leanne, Evangeline and Vonnie share their recipes and problems with each other, and come up with some creative solutions. The Potluck ladies are as varied as the dishes they serve, and they don’t always get along. These ladies come from some colorful backgrounds: Donna is a deputy tormented by her past; Lizzie, a librarian whose son has suddenly come home to roost; Vonnie, recently reunited with her long-lost son; Goldie, who has her share of marital problems; Lisa Leanne, herself a newcomer and prone to gossip and matchmaking; and Evangeline, the President of the Potluck Club, in love with Donna’s father—and Donna’s not happy about it. This novel spans multiple points of view as we jump in the lives of each of the girls, as well as an inquisitive reporter named Clay, who is always on the prowl for a good, juicy story. Though it continues the plot of the original Potluck novel, this story has its own legs, so if you read them out of order you can still follow the storyline. The girls have real problems with which we can identify, and their friendships are solid and believable. The girls have a strong support system as they transcend some difficult situations with a little squabbling and a lot of faith. With a pinch of secrecy and a dash of mystery, this book dishes up some delicious warm winter reading. Publisher: Revell
