Carter had never been more shocked than he was to see Gracie at the aquarium when he arrived in New Orleans. He can tell from the first look she gives him that she still hasn’t forgiven him for the past . . . but that look’s also all it takes to convince him that she still holds a big place in his heart. Now he just has to convince her that he’s changed—and that he had good reason for at least some of what he did before. He sees quickly that the way to her heart is through her penguins—but nothing seems to go right there, either. Will they ever see eye-to-eye again? Return to Love is a sweet, hearty story that takes the reader from the fun of an aquarium to the bitter roots of the past. When unforgiveness pairs up with sabotage, trouble comes down upon these once-friends in spades and will keep the pages turning. I enjoyed spending a few evenings with this book. There’s enough mystery to keep the story going, enough hints about the past to make you want to know exactly what happened to destroy Gracie’s and Carter’s friendship all those years ago. What I most enjoyed about it was the unique penguin thread. It adds a definite charm to the book and helps make the characters real and interesting. If you need a quick, engaging read with some New Orleans flavor and some penguin fun, check out Return to Love.
