Natalie Coombs has finally moved on with her life, after a painful divorce left her the single mother of two young boys. Her job as director of Hope Center is going well, and she’s encouraged in her quest to save unborn children’s lives—and the women who will always emotionally pay the price of an abortion. Then Linn comes in. Linn’s father is insisting on an abortion. Her boyfriend is long gone. Linn has a full ride scholarship to college, and her dreams are within reach—without a baby. Natalie tries to reach out to Linn, show her other options, and encourage her to consider adoption. But when Natalie finally seems to be reaching Linn, things start falling apart. Natalie is the victim of an assault in the Center’s parking lot. The Center is targeted for random acts of destruction of property, and the police don’t seem to be willing to do anything. Then Linn is kicked out of her father’s house until she has the abortion. Natalie is at wit’s end. How can she possibly help Linn now when everything is going wrong? And what happens when a terrible secret is revealed that has the potential to destroy lives? SAVING GRACE is the second book in the New Heights series but it easily stands alone. However, readers will want to read the first book in the series, Mending Places, to become acquainted with Natalie’s sister, Hannah, as she does make appearances in SAVING GRACE several times. My attention was held all the way through the book and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I hoped that Linn would not abort her baby, but couldn’t see how she could keep it when all odds were stacked against her. SAVING GRACE has the points of view of Natalie’s two sisters, Hannah and Paula, included in the book so readers can keep up with Hannah’s life and become involved in Paula’s life, whose story will be in the next book in the series. I hope to read that book soon. I highly recommend SAVING GRACE. $12.99. 298 pages. Publisher: Howard Publishing |
