Sunset Beach
By Trish Perry
Review by Roseanna White

Sonny Miller has had her fill of secrets. All her life, her mother’s been dodging questions about her family, her background, and Sonny’s father. In Sonny’s mind, the time has come for answers. And surely now that she’s on her way to a master’s in psychology, she’s equipped to help her mom reconcile with her past, right? So she sets up a surprise reunion with her mom’s estranged sister at a beach house outside of San Diego—and runs smack into a few surprises herself.

Teresa Miller has never been one to be led quietly where another wants her to go. She agrees to the vacation Sonny sets up, but she knows well her daughter’s going to try to dig into a past best left buried. So she brings along a buffer—her protégé Irina, a beautiful young soprano originally from Russia. And is she ever glad she did when her estranged twin, Melanie, shows up.

Over the course of the week, these four ladies unearth hidden secrets, old regrets, new hopes, and the healing power of faith . . . and Sonny’s especially fond of the surprise of Irina’s brother showing up—a blast from her own past that she’s only too happy to meet again.

Sunset Beach expertly weaves humor and grace into a story of reconciliation and fresh starts. Each character has a few hidden pieces of her past that come to light, and you’re going to love the journey they take at the quirky, beloved beach house. I found that the story had a thread of romance just strong enough to keep me happy, enough twists and turns to keep the pages flipping, and a few laugh-out-loud moments that are Trish Perry’s trademark.

Sunset Beach is a must-pack for your vacation and will delight you as it touches your heart and delivers the occasional tickle to your funny bone.
